Road Legal Registered 1979 Honda Cy50 Cy 50 Dax Sand Bike
Used 1979 8,000 miles
1979 Honda CY50 midi-sized sand bike, aka Nauty Naughty Dax (Germany) or Ride & Play (Japan). Probably the best condition CY50 in the UK. R eady to ride away and find trail-adventures on or to display at classic bike/car shows! Presented in the rarest HRC Honda blue/red/white combination. Honda’s much rarer and more desirable version of the Suzuki RV sand-bike. This fabulous sand-bike (with it's Bridgestone chunky tyres) is original/un-modified and has a strong/reliable low mileage unrestricted 50cc engine, it is road registered on T plate (V5 is present) and road tax is just £15 a year/historic exempt. - Unrestricted and comfortably capable of 42 mph (maybe a tad more on the flats/downhill). Owned by middle aged classic bike fan, so always ridden sensibly and respectfully. Dry stored in heated garage under a weatherproof bike cover. Comes with a few spares: a NOS boxed Honda carburettor worth £200, original 70's CY50 sales brochure, original 70's CY50 magazine advert, the bikes original CY50 toolkit tools/pouch and a spare new NSK spark plug. Bike has never been left stood around and is started/ridden almost weekly. - Low mileage (13,000 kilometres/8,000 mis), equivalent to just 200 mis a year (for each of it's 40 yrs)! Engine is sweet, no leaks or rattles, pulls cleans and gear changes are smooth/precise. It should easily give another 20,000+ miles of service before needing an engine rebuild or new gaskets etc. - The bike is very cosmetically presentable: no seat tears or fabric nicks, no pitted or holed chrome or rust, no big dents or scrapes (it has a few tiny stone chips), has decent tyres with legal tread etc and it's as nice in the pictures and needs for nothing. Won an award at a local classic bike show back in April for 'Best Mini Bike'. - Starts every time and is very reliable, it has taken me on many ‘small bike’ adventures (usually camping to local sandy beaches) and attend several classic bike shows too. Always draws attention when displayed or when out riding! Can carry two adults as it has rear passenger pegs and front/rear luggage racks (ideal for carrying tents/lunchboxes). - Midi-sized, so is proportionately bigger than a monkey bike, but smaller than a proper sized motorbike/moped (and is therefore comfortably rideable by adults of all heights and weights). Well proportioned to be ideal for campervans/man-caves and storing in small sheds. - MOT exempt (it’s 40yrs old so is technically now an 'historic vehicle') but I put in for an equivalent annual MOT test anyway via a specialist motorbike garage inspection in September 2019 (see garage report photo) and needed just £5's worth of work to be made totally safe. It had no advisories on the previous MOT in 2018 and only really needed a few precautionary split pins this year in 2019 (all work professionally completed by the bike garage). It doesn’t need an official MOT as it’s legally now exempt. Has actually only done about 120mis since the 2018 MOT, and shouldn’t need anything doing for years to come other than an annual oil change/occasional spark plug. Any questions please ask. I can send more photographs plus a ‘walk-around‘ video on request too. I’m in no rush to sell it and the Honda mini-bike market is getting stronger each year with values rising rapidly. It took me 3 years to find 1 this good and it’s a rare investment bike that is ready to enjoy and ride away on. I'll happily keep it to enjoy it in future summer evening ride-outs along the coastline if it doesn't sell. No free postage . Item is collect in person only. Sold as seen/no returns/caviot emptor/private sale etc.
